Expansion and Evolution in Year Two

As the Newark Community Food System (NCFS) enters its second year, we are looking for new voices invested in the conversation around community food. We are building an intellectual hub around the creation of local food producing communities to empower residents to become actively involved in reshaping their food system, while gaining control of their health and environment. In 2019, NCFS will continue to:

  • Support the growth of and advocate for the strengthening of the local food system;
  • Amplify community-led initiatives and cultivate collaborations; and
  • Develop sustainability around urban agriculture and fresh healthy food access.

We are growing our membership to include the following experts in the areas of agriculture, horticulture, nutrition, health, and wellness:

  • College students and new professionals
  • Local farmers, growers, and gardeners
  • Small and medium business owners in the food or restaurant industry
  • Representatives of neighborhood associations
  • Leaders of nonprofit and faith-based organizations
  • Educators, school staff, and administrators
  • Local government decision makers and experts

If you would like to be of service, please fill out our membership application here.
